In a sense, they both get what they want. Red suggested they turn round and go home but he and Rover agreed to walk as far as they’d already gone. Red turned them round to head for home before they started to walk as far as they’d already gone.
I’m reminded of the first time my boss invited my family to join his family in doing a 5k event. The event allowed walkers. My girls were 5 & 7 at the time & thought they could do it. We started walking; when we got to the first mile marker we asked the girls if they wanted to keep going. Mind you, they were already pretty dragging, but not complaining. They both said yes…but their voices said no. We compromised & just turned around & walked back to the start. However, the next year – & few following years – they did the whole thing. (It was a lot of fun, & my boss took us all out to dinner after, every year.)

I’m walkin’, yes indeed
And you’re balkin’ and pay no heed
I’m hopin’ that you’ll go on with me, yeah

Rover was surprisingly slow to catch on there. He’s usually more quick witted than Red.

I’m looking forward to strips taking place in winter.
I wonder what kind of winter fun Red and Rover have; I doubt that they create snow monsters as Calvin does.

Our neighborhood has many loops for dog walks. The shortest one is about 15 minutes and the longest over an hour.

Red outsmarted you Rover. Like an attorney, just changed the words and got what he wanted.

Love the little dots Brian put on the sidewalk to indicate that Red was turning around!
