I don’t pay all that much attention to “sell by” or “use by” dates. I probably should pay more, but my nose has never let me down. Bananas you can tell by looking at them. I don’t like them, but I bought a small one for my dog, since she likes to try everything. I cut it up in small pieces, put it in her bowl. I walked past her bowl later on, and she had carefully removed every single little piece out of her bowl and put them neatly on the mat I keep her bowls on. She doesn’t like them either.

So that’s why I am starting to get age spots, just like the bananas.

That’s a good analogy, Ted. The trouble for me is, as much as I like bananas, they don’t like me. I’ve been allergic to them since the 80’s.

Senior optimists buy green bananas.

My “best by date” is well past…sigh. Mentally I don’t feel much different than I did in my 20’s…then I stand up.

A slightly ripe banana is the best time to eat it.

A simple philosophy. Usually, the simpler ones are the best kind. Morale, do it while you can….

And then you get used to make banana nut bread? Or Soylent Green.

But bananas have a peel.

Well Uncle Ted, Frank Sinatra thought of his life as vintage wine, but I guess he thought that sounded better in a song than a banana.

Still good for banana bread and smoothies…. Ripe bananas, blueberries, greek yogurt, mango, cinnamon and fluids of the day. Yum!
