We need to accept there is too much to know and accept our brains, without our permission, deletes information (or block off the information), while retaining the knowledge we once knew the information.
I suppose the neural pathway are unused long enough for the path to the data to be forgotten, except that doesn’t explain why I remember things from 70 years ago, and forget why I entered the room.
