I chatted with a young woman on an airplane once. She was from Oakland and had a really messed up tattoo. I asked about it and she said the artist(?) messed it up and tried to fix it. I asked if her other tattoo was by the same guy and she looked solemn and just nodded.
I lost my long time hairdresser four years ago (hurt her shoulders and had to give it up) and I have gone through 5 hairdressers since then. At first I think it was my inability to explain how my hair was supposed to look (my hairdresser just knew) and then with pictures I still got a totally different haircut than what I asked for. My hair is waaaaaay shorter now than I really want it. I gave some 2nd and 3rd chances, but I’m on the hunt again. I’ll just have to wait a few months for it to grow out. So her offering a free haircut is like finding a bug in a cookie and them sending you a box to make up for it.
went to one of those chain barbershops years ago, one I had been going to for about a year. New person, and I told her that a no.4 clipper blade is used for the sides and then top trimmed to suit. So she immediately runs the no.4 right up the center of my head. So shocked that it took me 2 seconds to yell stop. She spent about 5 minutes trying to do this or that to hide it, and I just said finish it off with the no.4 – first (and last) time I ever had a crew cut. They didnt make me pay for that haircut, and I never went back to them….
I know how you feel Mary. I went to a local woman with a shop in her home for about 18 years till she retired. The whole family would go. She suggested someone who I finally found after an 8 month search.

It’s about second chances.
