For kids today, seeing a movie six times is nothing, because it’s all streaming. Alex waited in line at the theater and paid movie theater prices for candy and popcorn.
I lost a friend to hypothermia, in Toronto harbor, on an April afternoon, when their sailboat capsized. His wife swam to shore while he stayed with the boat. Help arrived too late.
Sad, indeed… With all the care Cameron took to cast actors who looked like the actual people aboard the ship, there was no need to add fictitious characters – especially with two actors who were as mismatched then as DiCaprio and Winslet. All the drama you needed were available from the folks actually there.
A lot of people complaining about one of the biggest movie blockbusters (attendance) of all time. I personally thought it had its good and bad parts but liked the last 3/4 hour and the Celine Dion song.
I think most of Kim’s lovers died from hyperthermia. Total burnout over her hot body. Surprised Mike has lasted this long, unless she has slowed down a little.
I just saw Avatar: The Way of Water and was highly amused at how much of Titanic Cameron managed to get in there near the end. (Not the romance—the sinking ship!)
Don’t waste your time on this overblown film, watch “A Night to Remember”, it’s the Best of all the films because it was made with input of the survivors! That, and I especially recommend “Monkey-Ed Movie: Titanic” on YouTube!!!
Was always struck that in that movie no one gets cold being in the water when it is flooding inside the Titanic but once they are outside in the ocean its suddenly deadly. Its the same seawater in each case and its not like the sinking ship is heating it up.
When it comes to Titanic movies, I preferred *"The Unsinkable Molly Brown" *
Molly Brown, the titular character was a real Titanic survivor and a remarkable woman.
From Wikipedia: Margaret Brown (July 18, 1867 – October 26, 1932), posthumously known as “The Unsinkable Molly Brown”, was an American socialite and philanthropist.
She unsuccessfully encouraged the crew in Lifeboat No. 6 to return to the debris field of the 1912 sinking of RMS Titanic to look for survivors.
During her lifetime, her friends called her “Maggie”, but even by her death, obituaries referred to her as the “Unsinkable Molly Brown”. The reference was further reinforced by a 1960 Broadway musical based on her life and its 1964 film adaptation which were both entitled “The Unsinkable Molly Brown”.
Margaret’s fame as a Titanic survivor helped her promote the philanthropic and activism issues she felt strongly about. She was concerned about the rights of workers and women, education and literacy for children, historic preservation, and commemoration of the bravery and chivalry displayed by the men aboard the Titanic.
During World War I in France, she worked with the American Committee for Devastated France to rebuild areas behind the front line, and helped wounded French and American soldiers. She was awarded the French Légion d’Honneur for her good citizenship, activism, and philanthropy in America.
Her complete bio is the story of a remarkable woman who Never gave up and never tired of helping others.

TITANIC was a three-hour exercise in shameless cheese! (And that raft had room for both of them…)

I’ve still never seen this movie. I know enough of it due to comics, comedians and history to know it’s not my cuppa tea.

Kim is too much of a hottie to have ever lost any of her lovers that way.
But she may have frozen some unwanted suitors.

“Titanic”. Eleven Academy Awards. NONE for acting. Mostly technical stuff. The screenplay wasn’t even nominated.

I didn’t get around to watching Titanic until about 3 months or so after it was released. Even then, the theater we saw it at was packed.
