Packaging has gotten increasingly impossible over the past 30 years. I saw individually plastic-wrapped cucumbers at the grocery store yesterday. We could get rid of (or change to cardboard or at least reduce) half the packaging in the country and never miss it.
I bought a new electric shaver last week, it took over a half hour to cut it out of the package. RIP here, tear a bit, slice up the side, try to RIP the plastic, finally got it out, but SHEEESH ridiculous:-[
I needed a gag for today, and just yesterday this ALMOST happened to me, opening a package of Flo-Nase.
We do draw many of our gags from real life stuff. The time that Sal was captured by six-armed green monkeys from the planet Glooze actually happened to John, so he… wait, no, I might be mistaken about that one…
It’s really hard to get Immodium pills any other way than in blister packs. Those pills are SO tiny that not only can you cut yourself trying to get them out, but you can also (easily) flip the pill across the room and never be able to find it.

Heavy-duty kitchen shears, the kind you spatchcock a chicken with.

What’s really crazy is when you buy a pair of blister packed scissors, so you need another set of scissors to actually get into it.

I have cut myself on that plastic but usually I break or tear a finger nail.

Most modern packaging should be prominently labeled: Impenetrably sealed for your protection.

Those blister packs can be life threatening.

Not gonna lie, this did happen to me. More of a paper cut than needing a full wrap.

Blister packs are the worst. I can’t believe they are still used.

Sadly, as long as there are shoplifters, there will be blister packs. Humans are our own worst enemy.

Consumer-Resistant Packaging.

I will stop carrying a knife when manufacturers stop wasting plastic on consumer proof packaging.
