Saleswoman: The bride and groom have eschewed the traditional gift registry in favor of the sporting goods store. Cathy: Excuse me? Saleswoman: It's the new trend. Couples are registering in stores that sell things they'll actually use in their healthy, active lifestyles. Cathy: I can't believe this! What happened to the China gravy boat, where I could at least imagine the bride packing on ten extra pounds eating gravy? What about the crystal goblets, where I could visulize the couple's first fight after the groom used one for his beer and then jammed it in the dishwasher?? What about the sterling tea set, that I could dream would just sit in their closet for the next twenty years collecting guilt?? Isn't it enough that they're getting married and I'm not??! They already have love and happiness! Must I go another $100 in the hole to help them be fit, trim and even happier??!! Saleswoman: The only traditionalists anymore are the guests. Cathy: Leave it to the '90's to take the fantasy out of a wedding. For the Bride and Groom
