Our monsoons have returned. They were missing the last two years. Tonight we had thunder and lightning and torrential rain. The lake out back is filled to the brim and spilled out onto the course. . Its man-made so it spills over its banks when it rains.
This morning I saw, on my patio, a Gambels Quail and 9 teeny tiny puff balls. They hatch with the ability to run. Which is a good thing because their parents are indifferent to them. I guess when you have a bunch you give up trying to keep track of them all.
NATIONAL PEO WEEK. Today is the beginning of the third week in May and we are kicking off the week celebrating National PEO Week. This week long celebration honors the contributions made by the professional employer organization. National PEO Week recognizes the PEO industry for what they do to help our nation’s small businesses and their employees prosper.
NATIONAL WAITSTAFF DAY
NATIONAL STRAWBERRIES AND CREAM DAY. Still too early for strawberries here. The ones in the store that come from California are hard, dry and tasteless.
NATIONAL TAKE YOUR PARENTS TO THE PLAYGROUND DAY. Even if they were alive, my parents would never go to the playground.
From yesterday’s comments – replies to what my Cassie typed, marilynnbyerly said, “The message is “CT.” The “R5” is a slight accidental pressure as she goes toward “T”. Look down at your keyboard to see what I mean. “C” is either for “Cassie” or the beginning of “cat.” Is Cassie a tabby or tuxedo by chance?”
Nope. Cassie is mostly white, with dark gray spots on her head and sides and a gray tail.
My little fosters are settling in. The grey one isn’t thrilled with me. Too bad for her! She gets pickies up and kisses anyway. I had to wrap her up like a purrito yesterday to keep those tiny razor claws in check. I know they played during the night and early morning because I could hear the jingle balls and everything was all over the place this morning. I let Moose in for the first time. Everyone is eating, drinking and using the litter box.
Tomorrow is porridge’s turn for me, with half a previously frozen peach in it and topped with hash. Tuesday I’ll have a toasted bagel with cream cheese with an egg.
Toast sounds good. Not that there’s anything wrong with porridge, but toast is less likely to attract hungry bears. By the way, anyone remember watching those Three Bears Looney Tunes cartoons? They were so funny. On another note, saw two Steller’s jays, three robins, three juncos, a rabbit, a chickadee, and two dragonflies while out walking today.

I propose a toast to that decision…but if the bears once develop an appetite for this you’ll be…, well, toast

Maybe the scariest part of the story is that they were eating porridge.

You’re a cat. You shouldn’t be eating mushy grain or toast. How about a small rodent?
