As far as Irving’s concerned it defies logic. If these are my size, then they should fit! End of story!

Most men are just not all that good at clothes-related logic.

if it says size 38, then bleeep it, it better fit!!! If it says size 38, and the leg is only wide enough for a man with size 28 legs, then it’s mis leading. I HATE skin tight clothes.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Carpenter’s Jeans. I promise, they’ll fit.

Sometimes a man thinks he’s a 38 but he’s really a 40 because he’s put on a few pounds. Then he’s ticked off when the 38 doesn’t fit. You tell him to try a 40 but he bellyaches because he thinks you’re saying he’s fat, only a fat man would wear a 40! So he leaves with nothing!

    MEN!!!

Men are fundamentally rational and scientific when it comes to things like clothing and measurements. That’s why men’s pants are sized in real-world units like inches (which are, at least in theory, absolute and consistent), while women’s pants are often sized in arbitrary numbers like 6 and 4 and so forth (which vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, from style to style, and from day to day). Men expect that 38 means 38. Women expect that they’ll be able to wear the same numeric size when they’re middle aged as they did when they were teenagers.

What Irving’s encountered is the clothing industry’s attempt to make men more like women, in the hopes that they’ll then start to buy more clothing (as women do).
