T-Rex is right, converting Jupiter into another sun, even a small and less massive one, would have a massive impact on the rest of the solar system, and a lot of it not good things. I don’t know if I’d go as far as saying it’d definitely destroy ALL life on THIS planet, but it would definitely dramatically alter the conditions upon it in unfavorable ways.
And there’s another problem anyway, as the reason Jupiter never became a sun on its own in the first place is because it doesn’t have nearly enough mass to induce fusion, so in order to change that, one would have to dramatically increase the amount of mass Jupiter has by adding more to it…and a spaceship heading to Jupiter just isn’t going to have anywhere near enough loose material to achieve that aboard, not even enough to call it a mere “drop in the bucket,” I think.
