One week of vacation a year? Well, I guess it does make sense because two, or more, would give them quadruple the stress of someone finding them out. Charlene is closer to the real truth than the other three losers. And Cathy is the least truthful.

Billy is heading back to DC. I won’t see him for six weeks. We’ve never been apart that long. :-(

I agree with Aaron… Charlene is probably the closest to the truth. If no one understands the work you do, then that’s a problem because your boss should. If no one knows the work you do, then you’re not communicating enough and you may find yourself on the next layoff list. If you think no one could do what you do, then you are fooling yourself. GOOD AFTERNOON, fellow Cathy nuts. No such thing as a stress-free vacation anymore, at least in that office. I’m distracted watching President Obama on TV right now. Makes me think of all the politicians hiding out in Washington hoping they hang on to their jobs should be watching their backs cause they are totally replaceable!!!

I’m in complete agreement regarding Charlene’s statement being closest to the truth. As someone who has worked as a secretary/receptionist in the past, nobody really seems to appreciate all the work “behind the scenes” that those hard-working people do! There would be utter CHAOS without them!!!!! As for Cathy, she’s completely delusional and needs to get over herself!!! NO ONE is so completely indispensable that their job security is absolutely assured until they’re ready to retire . . . not in this day with this economy anyhow!!!

Dr. Billy: Hope you had a really wonderful birthday yesterday!!! While I couldn’t be here to say it to you “personally” on your actual special day, I thought about you all day and hoped you were having a great time. And if you were surrounded by people you love and who love you (not to mention DBC cake!) . . . how could you not?!?!?!?! ;-)

Aaron: Not even for just a couple of days over a weekend here and there??? If not, I’m so sorry! I’m assuming you’ll at least have LMB with you though?!? Love and hugs to you both!

Cathy and her co-workers are CRAZY!!…..eye roll…..man oh man…..I know for a fact that everyone knew what I did at the hospital and would notice if I wasn’t there…….and yes I believe that secretaries are the backbone on ANY office/workplace……..they know everything!…..Hello to Lightenup, Aaron, Billy, LMB, Gretch’s Ma, Viperdude, Lindzcoop, Susan, hendelca, mollie, serenaskitty, and all the other wonderful, crazy Cathy nuts:)

I feel bad for Charlene. The rest of them need a shocking bit of reality. Sorry Cathy love, you too.

Hi Cathyites!! So sorry you guys have to be separated for the rest of the summer Billy & Aaron. Hurry up and heal Aaron, so it will be over. Good that LMB is staying with you — I think you both probably need each other. As for Cathy, just take the stupid vacation and don’t worry about what others think — that’s what I decided on my 50th birthday, and it has kept me a lot happier ever since.

My initial thoughts on this one were simple … and sum things up pretty nicely:

For most ‘normal’ companies and employees I would agree with you all that Charlene is closest to reality. I was in a postion about 20 years ago where Cathy was right! No ONE could replace me. When I left the company (the only position I left since my elementary school teaching days (almost 4 decades ago) where I was actually replaced) they hired THREE people to replace me – one programmer, one hardware tech, and one manager. Best compliment about my work I ever received!

Re secretaries (oops – admin assistants to be politically correct) – I fully agree. Being an office of one I have to do my own secretarial work and I really, really miss having access to a professional! They are the backbone of any office or workplace just as @KFG says!

@Billy and @Aaron – I am sorry to hear that you will be separated for 6 weeks. That may seem to be a long, long time to be apart. But, take it one day at a time, keep busy, and, hopefully, time will fly by faster that you think.

Hmmmm, must be @KFG’s fault. I start to enter one short comment and it just keeps getting longer and longer. (But it is all in one post – so far!)
