I have heard a theory that some wolves got the gene for black fur by mating with domestic dogs, wolf cubs with black fur have a better chance of surviving their first winter.
Back in the early 60’s in San Jose, the temps were well up to 100+ for several days. The local tv station sent 2 ladies out to see if they could fry and egg on the sidewalk, being concrete. It did not work so they put a black frying pan out for and hour, and then were able to fry the egg in the frying pan. Yes, black really attracts the heat from the sun’s rays.
As is obvious in my avatar, my dog is mostly black. I do need to keep her out of the sun when I can, because she will heat up faster than I do. We just do our longer walks early and late in the day in the summer. It doesn’t need to be that hot out to heat her up.
