There are several books out with that sort of title: Everything You Know is Wrong, Everything You’ve Been Taught is Wrong, etc. on various topics. History, science, and yes, even Christianity.
Once, while leaving a college bible class, I considered the possibility that the Biblical text might be all a lie, a fallacy, a hoax. So, I questioned my very beliefs. But, I had to consider my faith experiences, my personal walk with Jesus, my spiritual experiences and then I concluded that those I could not deny. So, I walked away that day as though following a revival.
So, yes, Snoopy, I might be wrong about a great many religious things, but my faith isn’t.
“Has it ever occurred to you that you might be wrong?” Why, yes. But it turned out to be necessary to reject that possibility on the grounds that it was obviously just not the case.
In an episode of The Ascent of Man, Jacob Bronowski visits Auschwitz. There, in his defense of science, he quotes Oliver Cromwell: “I beseech you, in the bowels of Christ, think it possible that you may be mistaken.”
This was the beginning of Schulz turning on religion. He had been every popular with all Christians, especially the Fundamentalists. It the 70’s, Sparky began to get negative stuff from many Christians. Due to his divorce and his good friendship with Billie Jean King. It made him mad and he styled himself a “secular humanist”. There’s a story arc later where Linus is thrown out of Bible Camp for asking this question.
