In my first job, there were a couple guys that actually did that. They merged their cubes and brought in a couple couches to sleep on. Unfortunately, this was before the building had a shower…
I worked from home 100% in my last job. I got up at 5 AM, did my workout and walk and logged in at 6:30 AM.
I ran a 50-step checklist to download data and run 16 different reports and had them ready by 8:30 AM. This was about when most other workers were logging in. Some of these reports supported the 9 AM meeting.
I would log out at 8 PM after running a report that was automatically mailed to 160 different vendors.
When I took the job, I choose to be hourly because I wanted the ability to take unpaid time off. I worked 9 hours a day Mon-Thu. My work hours were based on when data was available and when reports were due. I did not work the entire period and took large breaks during the day.
Then my boss’ boss wanted all of us in the office because the metrics were bad (he could not tell anyone WHY they were bad because he didn’t like the reports I came up with and wanted his own instead). So we’d all be more productive if everyone of us were in the office 8 AM to 6 PM Mon-Fri including the every other Friday we were supposed to have off.
I was not going to go into the office at 6:30 AM and leave at 8 PM. Besides, the office didn’t have a pool.
Last I heard, the turnover in personnel continues. I know few people who are still there.
As far as I know, the metrics still look bad and my ex-boss isn’t getting his bonus. I am surprised he still has his job.

Sure. I think the wife and kids, my mother-in-law and the dogs will be happy here.

Work from home is so passé. Lives in office is the thing now.

And your rent is whatever I’ve been paying you each month, so you’ll have to get a second job to be able to buy food.
