Hey diddle diddle,

The cat and the fiddle,

The cow jumped over the moon;

The little dog laughed

To see such sport,

And the dish ran away with the spoon.

So we are missing some witnesses……….

Typical amnesia of the facts that are inconvenient.

I thought the dish ran away with the spoon.

She really knows how to twist the knife!

The relationship was tarnished when the dish got a chip on his shoulder, and her parents told her to come home (“all is forkiven”).

Sometimes when things don’t work out the way people expected, they convince themselves that they had nothing to do with how it started.

Don’t have a cow, man.

Do kids still learn nursery rhymes? Just wondering if a much younger reader would get this

guess they’ve reached the fork in the road

That two timing spoon!

The court proceedings were delayed because the dish got a plate.

The classic nursery rhyme notwithstanding, without corroboration, this is going to turn into a “he said/she said” situation. Wonder if the cat with the fiddle or the laughing little dog will be called to testify? (Figure the cow, busy jumping over the moon, wasn’t an eye-witness.)
