Most (not all) Christians of my acquaintance may give lip-service to Jesus, but they actually prefer the Old Testament to the New Testament. Kind of funny when you think about it.
Is any thought to be given to Christians of a different creed, those of another world religion, atheists and agnostics, or those who walked away from it all and are neo-pagans?
The big fight is going to be within the GQP to determine which of the 45,000 versions of their cult they will attempt to force down the throats of all Americans in their effort to make THEIR version the supreme and only cult in the US.
Imagine if you will, everyone being forced to attend at least 1 service a day(and 2 on Sunday)and give $$$ at every service
Ya know, if the traditional idea of a Heaven and Hell are true I think these cretins are in for a very nasty surprise when they finally go though that dark door. And since they like Biblical quotes here’s one that fits:
Matthew 7:20-23
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Well, the Old Testament has a lot more stories in it than the New one, which really has not much more than the four stories of Jesus. And people like stories more than any other kind of writing. Here are two great stories we tell ourselves now: environmental devastation WILL NOT lead to runaway climate warming. A.I. WILL BE SAFE with minimal government regulation.
Any Democrat: “The killing of children and infants in Gaza must stop! Israel is so evil!”Any Democrat 2 minutes later: “It’s immoral to bring this new life into the world. Abortion is a God-given right! Republicans are so evil!”
The Hebrews came to believe that there was a kind of see-saw between God and Satan over which one would be in some sense in charge of the World, and therefore in a position to favor his preferences. The fact that Israel was under the thumb of a colossally horrid and corrupt tyrant, who was actually a sort of puppet of the pagan Romans, and the Romans themselves were secondary to pagan Greek influence (remember, the Gospels themselves were written in Greek, neither Latin nor Hebrew), was proof that God was not in control. The significance of which is that the compilers of the Gospels took it for granted that in the Kingdom of Satan, wealth and prosperity in the Kingdom of Satan was simply proof that you were a darling of Satan’s, and viewed wealth with suspicion and righteous disdain.
Jesus heralded the coming of the Kingdom of God. What arrived was the Church. But there are those who believe that this is the best of all possible worlds, meaning that it is fit and proper for wealthy people to be wealthy and poor people to be poor. (A comforting dogma, if you happen to be wealthy.)
To watch a meltdown among the KKKristofascists, just mention Jesus was a Liberal.
(To find the relevant MoronIndex™, simply count the number of babbled sputters and multiply by the number of blurted, half-formed, ill-informed objections.)
That “quote” from Jesus is one of the mistranslations from the King James version of the Bible. The actual word translates as camel “hair”, or “thread”. To me, it makes the passage make more sense, because otherwise Jesus was saying it was impossible for a rich man to “Enter the kingdom of God”.

None of The Disciples will understand this cartoon.
They are beginning to realize that Jesus was too liberal for them.

To fundamentalist Christians and Dominionists like Mike Johnson, Jesus is much more of a mascot than a role model.
