If if he has seen “A Christmas Carol”, he didn’t learn anything from it, apparently.

Someone like this boss is why there are unexplained brick walls in basements that didn’t have them originally. I doubt anyone would miss him.

Reminds me of when I worked for a small company (in the U.S.) owned by an Iranian. He only acknowledged Iranian holidays – not U.S. holidays – so we had to take vacation if we wanted paid time off for Christmas. Although Christmas is celebrated in Iran, it is not an official holiday there – hence he did not honor Christmas here (despite it being an official U.S. holiday).

He shut the company down from Christmas through New Year’s Day (because his customers were shut down) – if we didn’t have enough vacation days then we lost pay. Were not allowed to use sick leave, and there was no paid time off for any other reason… and we got a maximum of one week of paid vacation per year – ONLY IF we were salaried (which I was, but I was in the minority). Salaried people got docked for unpaid holidays same as hourly people.

To “even things up” he and his close buddies were allowed to get paid time off for Iranian holidays. But since most of us were not his close buddies, and did not share his Iranian heritage, he did not allow us to take Iranian holidays. Although it was nice to have workdays while he and his close buddies were absent.
