Favorite cup (mug) — yes — but in a CLEAN cup, no stains.

MORNING PHILOSOPHY: Life is like an unwashed cup – some like it, some don’t seem to mind and some can’t STAINd it…

Worst chewing out I ever gave one of the soldiers under my command, was when the Night Watch washed my coffee cup.

I’ve had one my daughter gave me 18 years ago, the wrap came off, the inside is stained, I have to take a brillo pad and knife to the inside of it to clean it off, but it’s still my favorite! Can take in car, it has a lid, I love it! Shaped like an hour glass it doesn’t slip out of your hands. Can’t find one like it, I’ve tried.

That isn’t staining, it’s seasoning like a cast iron skillet.

My grandparents’ Melmac (melamine) coffee cups were so heavily coffee-stained, they looked full even when they were empty.

used to do office cleaning years ago, and doing the dishes was not part of the deal. So the doctor’s office had a cup with some coffee left in it…for days…weeks…over a month…and it grew a layer of nasty mold in it. I left it just for fun, but eventually broke down and cleaned it for him. (now that I think about it, I hope that wasn’t some kinda experiment he had growing…like a petri dish type thing…!!)

To me, coffee tastes best when it’s poured straight from the pot into the sink, without ever touching my tongue.

    I guess I’ll never be a Plugger™.

In order to season your coffee cup properly, it takes a sustained effort!

I am a tea drinker – used to drink coffee when I was young (from age 12 on to about 30), but I drink tea for health reasons. (Though which medical condition(s) it is suppose to help, I no longer remember.)

When we got married – somewhere past 40 years ago – we bought a number of household items at a local department store which was known for its jewelry and its household items. Each time we bought an item which had to be picked up (as opposed to just off the shelf) such as accent tables, desk, etc. they handed us a gift for having to pick it up and schlep it home as they did not deliver. (I had worked in their fine jewelry department while going to college.)

At the time we were buying things from them they were handing out as the gifts – mugs – the mugs were all from the same set with flowers on the mug – the color of the flowers varied by the mug. I have reached the point where the blue one I have used for some years (not anywhere near 40 years) was so tea stained inside that husband would no longer let me use it – saying it was dangerous for me to do so. I have been using one with red flowers for a few years now and it is rapidly heading towards that point also.

(Worst of all to my mind – every now and then I think that I should – gasp – buy a mug which does not discolor, and then my sane brain kicks in and reminds me – I have another 6 mugs yet plus 8 coffee cups which came with my dishes, plus the 8 cups from the “in between dishes” and 14 cups from my good china (after started buying it pattern was discontinued so we bought 14 of everything for when we broke anything – there is just the 2 of us so only 1 cup used at time as he does not drink hot beverages) WHY WASTE MONEY BUYING A MUG!
