Ever heard of “cooking up a mess of greens/grits/etc.”? In my mother’s dialect, that was a normal variant on “cooking some greens/grits/etc.”.

This is Earl’s way for Opal not making him a sandwich in the first place. Yes, even Earl has limits.

Anyone else ever get frustrated when a Sunday comic could have easily been a 2-3 panel weekday comic?

Earl’s response filter it’s a little leaky.

I resemble that remark! When I cook, I dirty up every pot, bowl and utensil in the kitchen. (Today will be epic – baking bread and then making soup from scratch.)

I’m trying not to take this too seriously, since it’s a comic, but, I find it rather galling that a person cannot get up, and move about their own house, without being questioned as to their destination. If he were leaving the house, then he should say so. But anything else, no, I don’t agree.
