    The weird thing is: Historically speaking, the Texicans defending the Alamo actually weren’t the good guys. They were mostly illegal immigrants, who had (illegally) settled in Mexican territory and had brought their slaves with them (out of the around 38,000 foreign settlers, 5,000 or so were slaves). In early 1836 Mexico changed it’s constitution from a federal republic to a more centralized structure and also abolished slavery. The Texicans then revolted, because they wanted to keep their slaves.
