Huey: I don't get this whole thing with video games. Riley: What, you mean why you keep losing? Huey: No. Everyone is worried about kids and violence, right? And kids using guns...so why don't they go after the gun manufacturers and gun dealers instead of people who make video games. It doesn't make sense. Riley: Sure it does. Pretend you're some stupid parent activist person... Who would you rather start beef with - some nerd who makes video games or some dude with a warehouse full of AK-47s? Huey: You know...I'm actually much more impressed by that point than I care to admit. Riley: Of course I'm deep. Just don't tell nobody.

Riley’s character in the comic and the animated series is basically the same, but it’s expressed in totally different ways. It’s very hard to imagine the animated Riley talking like the comic strip Riley.

His comic strip was genius. His animated series…not so much!

I have a hard time watching the animated series because it throws around the “N” word so liberally. I’m afraid it will desensitize me to the ugliness of the word, its history, and what it means. Huey is still the voice of reason in the show, but Riley is way over the top, imo. Robert’s character (the grandfather) gets expanded a lot, and I like him, but the people he hangs out with and the situations he gets into are troubling to me rather than funny.

Seen only one episode of the show, thought it was pretty good. The strip was one of the best ever, however. As a tea partier, I wonder how the strip would have presented a culture so opposed to leftism.

Because they probably have AK-47s. And more.
