I’d like to weigh in briefly regarding TV shows: first, there are so many reality shows because they’re incredibly cheap to produce, as, I’m sure, you all know. Of course, it still amazes me that anyone of any intelligence watches those shows. Secondly, I’d like to nominate a great show that I was never interested in when it was on Prime Time: Dharma and Greg. It is hilarious. My husband and I got hooked on it a few yrs. back when it started syndication. We now have the first few seasons on DVD and watch it periodically. I also just discovered that the TV Guide channel is showing reruns from 7pm-8pm (ET). Give it a try. It’s a great example also of a show that got better and better over time. And, third: I’ve enjoyed all the shows that you all have mentioned. My gosh, I haven’t thought of Barney Miller in years, and yet, I was a faithful viewer when it was on Prime Time. But, I’d have to say that Dharma and Greg is my favorite “old” show, and The Big Bang Theory takes the prize of shows that are on now. Well, I went on longer than I planned, so I’ll stop now.
@ cleokaya It is difficult to be spontaneous or to plan vacations when you have pets (or children). We are fortunate to have a friend come over and dog-sit (and house-sit) while we go on vacation. It’s a vacation for her (she’s originally from town, but now lives up in a hill town with no TV service) and we pay her what we would have paid a kennel. It works out for all of us, and Max gets to stay in his own house. I’m thankful that we have her and realize that not everybody has this option. Hope you can figure it out so that you end up getting a dog. I cannot imagine you without one!!!
good morning!happy, happy, happy!!!…stick his head in the sharpener…(i like Fergus, but come on !): )i have two options i have used. there is a lady here that boards in her home and has a big dog yard and a small dog yard. she will set for the hour if you just need to get your pet out of the way short time. there is also a bonded/ insured couple that will come to the house, feed the dogs, open/close the doggy door, and sit and play with the dog/cat for a time. if your pet needs to take a walk they will do that also. the fee for the day works out to be about the same as a kennel. ask your vets in town. that’s where setters “advertise”.
Good morning kids. Hope all is well for all.And be quick about it Mr. Tuddles.@noicantspell – Ok now I’m having Lio flashbacks from yesterday. Not sure if Fergus could pull off that look though.LOL
CLEO,I was never willing to go on a trip or be gone for days at a time if I had to leave my dogs alone at home. When my mom was alive it wasn’t a problem since she lived next door to me and my dogs were actually “our dogs”. That was a great time and eventually we sold her place and she moved in with me.
After she passed away I just didn’t go anywhere if I couldn’t take my dogs with me. Motel 6 is a great place to stay with pets. If you want to do things or go places there is always a way to make it happen even if it takes some ingenuity and effort.
I hope you decide to get a dog. They joy they bring into your life is priceless and the memories that you will make together will stay with you forever.
StelBel, Yes, yes, yes, I loved Dharma and Greg! And of course, Barney Miller was a “never miss it”. There were so many really great shows back then. I thought MASH was excellent.
I don’t care for most of the shows now. There are a few that I liked but even the most recent ones are no longer current. Frazier was really good as was Everybody Loves Raymond. But most of the current shows don’t have my interest. They aren’t well written, most don’t have a real plot, just a lot of silliness and sight gags.
But yes, Barney Miller, Dharma and Greg and the others, they were fun to watch and still are even aafter so many years passing.
Hey there all you Citizen Dog Buddies, (((((StelBel, Dry, Cleokaya, Citizen Grog, Sugie, JP Steve, x_Tech, noicant, nighthawks, Lonewolf, Plods and everyone who comes here for a smile and a bit of friendship.)))))
Well, now I have to give a plug for the Holiday Inn in Uniontown PA. They are pet friendly too, with a fee. The fee was $25.00 non refundable cleaning fee, plus $10. a day per pet. Reasonable compared to some places, but I felt in our case a bit too excessive for 2 Little Bits who at the time were but over 2 months old and too young for their shots or a kennel. I spoke with the manager Lisa, directly and explained my situation. SHE WAS GREAT! We worked a deal and all I had to pay was the $25.00 cleaning fee , which I thought was more than fair. I told her the Little Bits together didn’t make a whole cat weight or body wise. It helped that she was an animal lover herself, and told me stories too of her and her husband and kids rescuing animals. so I am sure that helped. Even so, that is a nice Holiday Inn to stay at, and very clean, which is my most important priority. I won’t stay in a dump! If you are ever in that area, it is a nice place, not fancy, but clean, comfortable and close to lots of things in the Laurel Highlands. Sorry folks, I forgot I was on gocomics and not Trip Advisor posting a comment! LOL!
puppybreath I am glad things are working out for you and your Foster pups. But remember what I said, if you have to give them back, there are PLENTY of sweet dogs out there just waiting for a good and loving home! And if you get a male and female, I think Ralph and Alice or Norton and Trixie should be their names! :-D Of course, that is just my humble opinion!

puppybreath, Motel 6 was where I usually stayed while working as a travel photographer and writer. It wasn’t fancy but they always accepted my dog.

Motel Six, we’ll leave the light on (as *Fellow Baby said).* Great commercial, actually!

and I will leave the light on as well, for any wayward CD folks looking for a cozy haven until the sun rises again!
Goodnight folks!
