Shika, when I made my last comment last night, I did not see your comment that snuck in before mine. The comment had been directed at Fellow Baby because we’d been talking about Motel 6 and whether or not I’m leaving the light on like Motel 6 does.
I think the last time I donned a winter-themed avatar, I couldn’t replace it until summer due to avatar loading issues on the site. I hope that doesn’t happen again this year.
Hey to all the CD kiddos out there. I used to love going to Girl Scout Camp in the summer. The swimming, canoeing and the night hikes. It was a lot of fun cooking our food over the campfire too. Those are some of my happiest childhood memories. To this day if you put me in the back of a canoe, on a river, I am a happy gal.
Jkiss I never went to camp, as we had a cottage. But when I returned to Universtiy in 2008, we started each new year with a three day retreat at a camp. (I was in seminary). If camp is like that, with bonfires, cabins, lakes and woods, I know I would have loved it too. We always bonded that weekend too, which was the whole point.
Well, I just found out our local Blockbuster is going out of business! I guess I should have expected it, sooner or later, but it’s been there for years and the people, and the manager, Kristie, are such NICE people! I suppose the JC Penney store next door to them will be next! SIGH!
Grog, you’ll have to catch on to my "tongue-in’cheek* humour about the girls. I was kidding.I’ll Google this motel south of the border, but I suspect I know what I’ll find.
Dry, Blockbuster went out of business here a few years ago.We don’t have JC Penny up here, that I know of. But it is like Woolworths or Kresgies, isn’t it? Both long defunct here too.
When I left Canada, the only major retailer that still was in business was The Bay. Eaton was gone as Simpsons and Morgan’s long ago. But there were Walmart’s starting to pop up all over the place. I’ve never bought clothing there and I never will – especially not to go to work in.
OMG! I looked up Motel 6! do they keep the lights on to keep the roaches away or what? Sorry, but they look so cheesy. And I see that we have one in Kingston, Ontario. The ads are identical and they are in English and Spanish. Obviously, they don’t expect a Canadian to go there.Although you never know. We have our own cheesy motel chains up here though. ;-)
Good night, Shika. It’s been fun, but I guess I should also also turn out the lights shortly.
I’m glad that I’ve got choices down here like Macy’s and Dillard’s to choose from. Those choices were truly going out the window in Canada – well at least in Montreal and Edmonton. The Bay was the only go-to place for office-wear.
Shika, our Chairman of the Board of our Canadian entity always stayed at Best Western Hotels. I wonder if he’d ever been to Pampa, TX. They don’t have a hotel there, but they’ve got the best motel there – and that ain’t sayin’ much.
It’s always fun Grog. I just don’t always have the time to stay here. I’m supposed to be printing off my report now. So off I go to make sure it is a-okay..
LORDY, GO TO RED AND ROVER AND MAKE SOME POINTS, AND I GET BEHIND HERE!
Shika, Motel 6 is a standing joke, the commentators voice, at least here in the US has a GREAT voice. The slogan is COOL. Would I stay there, only if I had too! I prefer upper end places I know, like Courtyard Marriott and Hilton Gardens.
and last but not least, Shika*,
NO JC PENNEY is NOT LIKE A KESGIES OR WOOLWORTHS! Higher class, BY FAR! I think you would like it. And the prices are very reasonable, esp. during sales.
My printer is printing at molasses speed on a cold day. One letter (character) at a time. I tell you, technologies does not agree with Shika. I KNEW I should have started earlier!

I’ve always seen the good hotels here, thanks to my girl friend who gets went to some of the best here, right downtown. Expensive and ritzy.
I’ve been to functions at Best Western. They aren’t too bad. Nothing like the Royal York though. ;-)

I’m also not sure you get the ‘woof woof’ thing. That’s for fans of Kelly’s Heroes and particularly Oddball, played by Donald Sutherland.
