Claude, I knew we shouldn’t have let Cleo eat all that pizza.

Gwyn, which side are you going to take? I would recommend the body. The body will always be with you. but the mind is edging closer to the door.

Cleo had to put on some weight for this role. And who knew she could come up with such a benevolent smile? Stel, is it all CGI?

    Hi gang….

Here we are again…. posting our comments today on

the Nov 29th  2018 “CLEO and COMPANY”

it’s StelBel’s poster for “Cleo Clifford’s Really BIG Movie” …. Starring Cleo Clifford, as, of course, Cleo Clifford, the Big Red Basset!

(Try to read that paragraph six times quickly….)

But first…. take a look at it on Sherpa

    http://www.comicssherpa.com/site/feature?uc_comic=cscwy

I was having trouble finding a human version….So I went back to the first time it ran…. I discovered that I’d answered that question, and run a small poster….So please forgive me a re-run comment as well….

Oooh, we’ve been clamoring for this book….

(Ok, it was a small clamor….

but a clamor is a clamor, right?)

Cleo Clifford, the big red basset…..

    beloved of puppies everywhere…

a staple of PBBS * , now starring in her own movie!

Wow… what an absolute ton of red fur dye it must have taken!

    and pounds of purplie shadow…..

( * Public Basset Broadcasting Network, of course.)

    Oh. Wait.

They didn’t really make Cleo gain 1500 pounds and grow 6 stories high, did they.

She’d never agree to ruin her girlish figure…. she still has glamorous parts ahead of her.

Camera tricks. That’s what it was.

A gallon of fur dye…. and a few pots of puplie shadow, by the time shooting was over.

    But that’s a lot.

My congratulations to the excellent stylists.

I wondered if there was a copycat human version….

But I didn’t see anything with a big red person.

    Then I realised….

heck, there are humans in Cleo’s version, since she found small roles for Clara and Claude.

But there’s also a wonderful cast of bassets and other dogs.

    Finally, I found a copycat…

but instead of a human star, they sneaked in another breed of dog.

Some unknown big red dog. What’s the point?

And while there are a few humans…. all the species are mixed up….

it looks like Claude’s role went to a cow!

Knowing they didn’t have a big star like Cleo Clifford, they didn’t use their dog’s first name!

And they made the smaller animals do tricks.

You don’t see Clara balancing a huge…. um…. what is that thing? … while standing on Cleo’s paw.

    NO…

I’m sorry I tried to hump the legs of all those young extras I invited to my table at the executive kibbleteria at the studio (they don’t call it Paramount for nothing) (and I would have gotten away with it too if that headline-chasing Stormy Spaniels hadn’t been there).

Very nice. I, too, love everything the Rotty Tailwagger Entertainment folks produce. I wasn’t sure I knew all the actors. I had to look up Ernie Hushpuppy……isn’t he the fellow that went on to design those VERY comfortable shoes?
