Rover: How long are we going to look for Moby Tadpole?
Red: Not long. He'll be hard-pressed to hide from our dogged pursuit.
Rover: Speaks for yourself.
Red: Here, Moby, Moby, Moby...
Captain Red Ahab returns. I guess that makes Rover Ishmael by association.
Last year the Moby Tadpole’s run of strips marked the end of summer and Red’s looming return to school for the fall. Is Mr. Basset pulling a Melville and going all symbolic on us.
In the latter years of Adam@Home, the August strips used to be reruns of previous years’ summer strips while he took a vacation.
I haven’t been reading this for very long so I do not know if he’s built up enough history to use repeats in Red & Rover. But if it sounds familiar, it probably is a repeat.
Some people out there don’t like Basset’s use of theme weeks. I actually enjoyed them. And Saturdays was the perfect capper to the week. Saturday’s and Sundays ended up in my favorites.
I’ll probably have to look at the history of Red & Rover to learn more about this Moby Tadpole. There appears to be about 7 years of history available on-line. It’s probably best to search through the August months based on comments I’ve read.
After reading 2 yeaers of August history the Moby Tadpole theme appears usually around mid-August. Unlike todays kids though, Red goes back to school is September.
Thanks, guys. Looks like I’ll have to go through all the online history. Looked like there was some good stuff there in what I did look at.

BC13 Red and Rover has been around a long time, and I don’t remember this one at all! Moby Tadpole yes, not this strip.
Brian, I LOVE RED & ROVER!!!
I guess some people got pretty nasty here yesterday. On behalf of complete, moronic strangers I apologize for them.
