Looks like Boo Boo’s conections are more efficient than the FBI’s!
Here’s Chapter 11 of the older story.
LITTLE ORPHAN ANNIE AND SANDYBy Harold Gray, 1933CHAPTER 11 – The Results of the TestIt was that same afternoon that Annie came out of Dr. Dose’s office with a sober face. He had been telling her the results of the test. “Well, that settles it,” she said. “Doc said that hair I found on Elmer Pinchpenny’s car-bumper came off the same dog as the tuft o’ hair I cut off o’ Sandy. O’ course I didn’t tell Doc where either sample came from!” So that had been Annie’s secret; and that was the reason why Annie had been so careful not to tell anyone what she had learned. “Now I know it was Elmer’s car that hit Sandy; and I found out he was driving it himself that night.”When Annie went in to see Sandy that night she said: “Well, Sandy old boy, I’m going to have some great news for you when you get a little stronger. But it’ll keep. Go back to sleep now.” Sandy wagged his tail, which was the only part of him that he could move. As Annie began to study her lessons that night she said, “I’ll bet Sandy’ll be s’prised when I tell him what I’ve found out. But I’m not tellin’ even Sandy yet.”
