News of the Times Economy in Recovery Utilizing the same successful strategy used to justify the Iraq War and many other policies, President Bush has started to get the economy in recovery by repeating the phrase over and over. Bush: My fellow Americans, I swore to uphold the constitution, and so, the economy is in recovery! Every member of the administration is using eevery opportunity to utter the phrase. Dick: Now that the economy is in recovery, we must drill for oil in Alaska! Critics are flummoxed by the deceptively simple strategy. Scientist: ...Which proves that the economy is not in recovery! Politician: But how do you respond to the fact that the economy is in recovery? In one dramatic speech, the president parachuted to the home of an unemployed software programmer. Bush: The economy is in recovery! You have a job! Guy: Uh... I do? Polls indicate that the tactic has been effective. Man: Is the economy in recovery? Lady: Economy... Recovery... Indeed, by saying the phrase repeatedly, thereby getting the media to report the phrase, the administration seems to have won over news organizations. In fact, the economy is in recovery. And of course there is little doubt the economy is in recovery. Bush: Right. Plus, I'm seven-and-a-half feet tall. And the president is seven-and-a-half feet tall.
