You really do have a problem with women, don’t you, friend? Whatever your unfortunate life experiences may have been with powerful and abusive women, I honestly sympathize. Try not to write off the entire gender; there are those of them without whom a mans life would be hollow.
But really: Janeway was as kick-ass a leader and ship’s captain as any the Star Trek franchise gave us, and Kate Mulgrew was spot-on in the role. Many another actress (like the one originally cast for the part) would have been disastrous, if not pathetic.

Seven of Nine was the rockingest thing to sail on the enterprise. And that was the second best Star Trek, second only to the original.

Shows what you know,Heart. Captain James Tiberius Kirk was Original,Classic StarTrek. SevenofNine (Jeri Ryan)was part of Next Generation Star Trek. Theres a difference…Like Fine wine and Welchaide.

In the Original Series, all the women wore hotpants and miniskirts to titillate male viewers. (Except in the pilot, where the women wore the same uniform as the men.) In Voyager, Seven wore a skin-tight unitard to titillate male (esp. teenage male) viewers. You’ve come a long way, Baby! :o)

gmartin: I agree with SCATTY. However, I have noticed a case of excluded middle in this regard. In my experience, women bosses were either the greatest or unbearable, males filled the whole spectrum.

Deep Space Nine was by far the best of the Star Trek shows.

Genevieve Bujold. No, seriously! She quit after one day on the set.

I would definitely engage in six of nine with seven of nine.

For me, it wasn’t so much Janeway in command as it was Kate Mulgrew playing her. Never could stand that woman. Always felt that Chakotay and the Maquis should have taken over the ship and fired Janeway out through an open airlock when they had the chance.

Majel Barrett was also the voice of the computer and later Troy’s mother on Next Generation.
