During one storm in Northern california, we were in San Francisco Bay and starting to exit the bay into the ocean. There was a Coast Guard Cutter just outside the gate turning the fleet back. I wasn’t all that sorry.
In another race, it was 3:00 a.m. and I was on the helm during a storm. We were going past San Pablo Bay where the oil refineries are. The clouds were low and the flames from the refineries’ burn off were reflecting off the bottom of the clouds and it was actually a beautiful sight.

Cmon Janis, you can do better than that… take him to the bed and play some REO Ridin the Storm Out.

Isn’t there a saying, “any port in a storm!” ?
