A criminal suspect escaped from a police station in Buffalo, NY, USA, on April 26, 2011, while handcuffed! When police re-arrested him, they added a new charge for stealing the handcuffs he was still wearing! Brrrrr... Both the North and South Poles have annual marathons! Andrew Myers uses thousands of carefully positioned screws to create 3 dimensional portraits!

I would contend that the handcuffs were forced on him and NOT intentionally stolen!Andrew Myers may have a screw loose somewhere and ANYBODY who would run a marathon at either North or South Pole should have their ‘screws’ “carefully positioned!”

Perhaps the handcuffs were trying to escape and he was forced to go along!

The research station at the South Pole has a group called the “300 Club”. To join, the first hundred is running the hundred meters from the station to the marker for the Pole; the second hundred is the hundred meters back; the third hundred is the hundred degrees below zero. The real trick, though, is that the only thing the runner is allowed to wear is a pair of boots.

I heard Antarctica had a regular marathon, but I thought the marathon at the South Pole was not annual. I also thought the North Pole marathon was rare. One problem with having a North Pole marathon is coming up with a course that is actually over the North Pole. Unlike Antarctica, the ice at the North Pole is sea ice. It shifts, causing course changes.
