Hmm. Before Ferrigno, it must have been Jackie Gleason as ‘The Incredible Bulk.’ No offense, Jackie. But then Audrey made fun of your weight a few times on the show. You were a good sport about it. And a lot of us got a kick out that show.
the Honeymooners were before my time, but it’s classic television…should be required to watch in any household. I’ll never be able to watch that version of the hulk now without thinking of this strip….BRILLIANT….giggle..snort…..
I never liked the attitudes in Honeymooners- the only Gleason routine I liked was Joe, the bartender. This is cute, but just checked the current strip with Ruthie playing house – and she did not put up with being ordered around (dumped the play oven on his head) -LOL!

“Mom, who’s Ralph Kramden?”[trying to remember…] “I have no idea – ask your grandad.”

Frankly, having Ralph Kramden in that movie as the Hulk would be a definite improvement.

My favourite Gleason character was The Poor Soul, his gentle, put-upon pantomime act. Showed just how gracefully a big man could move.
