Probly hear more interesting stuff and get better responses at dinner listening to the police scanner than to the Pennys—-or even to the clock ticking.
Mikie I had both knees replaced at the same time, have no regrets what so ever. Can ride my bike 27 miles at one time.Best of luck, and do your exercises. You’ll be ship-shape in no time!
Good morning, Leaky – and Mikie and Marg, and GymShoe and Grog… and Dave and….. don’t want to leave anybody out…..but…….I’m running out of breath…. so that’s why I usually say “Hi everybody.”
Staying back 500 feet from Burl is easy. It’s getting any closer I’d find difficult.
Gotta love the oh-so-appropriate quote from Chance Gardner on the wall…………..Burl’s role model for do-nothing staring with little comprehension.
Volunteer Foot Stool…. and doormat. I’d say the wind beneath his wings but the very idea of either of them airborne…..
Mikie I hope you saw my good wishes yesterday….We’ll all be wishing you a speedy recovery.
And Marg, 27 miles???Really?Ok maybe you’re not really a Roller Derby player but I’m still impressed.
OddBall! I just realised you got turned back around the right way!
@SusanSunshine, I don’t know about IE9, but in IE8, you can click on Tools menu—> Internet Options—> General—> Accesibility and check “Ignore font sizes specified on webpages.” Then you can go back and adjust the text size under the Page menu. Have you tried something like that to see if you can do the same in IE9?
Sleep tight Susan.Marg you ride you bike 27 miles? Ok, I will have to take the Burl position on this one:
You ride you bike 27 miles in on day? What do you do, stay the night there and ride it 27 miles back the next day?
I couldn’t find the eye in the panel in my email so I came on line to enlarge it. turns out it is bigger in my email than on here magnified today. What’s up wit that? I will look for the eye tonight after work when I have more time.
The last few days my Home Page has been unassailable. Anyone else having this problem?
I noticed today they made the home page appearance different- now all toons are one size for square and another size for strips. Dinette Set on weekdays used to show larger than other single panels, but it shrunk – I hope next Sunday will be larger, as Sundays are usually too small. And yes, I know all the magnification options.
@ Susan, that was a good comedy movie – most of the straight lines could barely be said without a smirk. Other faves of mine (non-animated) are Ruling Class and Man with 2 Brains.
Good morning Crustwood…et al..( and Ladyfingers )….. It finally rained here….. Burl will not have to water………… .Once Burl got to the door……… and found it was raining……….. neither he nor Jerry went anywhere…….. Just watched the TV…
GymShoe — thanks for the update — I’m sure you’re right.
He wouldn’t want to get his Civil Defense rainsuit and Sou’wester hat all wet, would he?
And Halcyon, thanks, cos I forgot to mention that, and yes.
When you upgrade a browser it generally carries your settings from the previous version, and mine has been set that way for years.
AFAIK there’s nothing you can do in IE to make the font in this box reasonably visible to me (or that in other web forms) without making the whole page disturbingly gi-normous - other text, graphics and all.
Firefox does it easily; leaving the rest of the page alone — this is actually a bit larger than in the posted comments.
I spend lot of time typing on this site, so it matters.
And I do apologise, to those not interested, for carrying on this discussion — but people are trying to be so helpful, and so am I.
Chrome does the Ctrl + and – very nicely and remembers the setting for each page. It works on the comments boxes here but I notice that on some sites although the main article enlarges the comment boxes are stubbornly tiny. I am still using XP so IE 9 won’t sneak up on me. I do a lot of newsgroups on OE so hate to give it up as its successors are terrible. Seems like there is a conspiracy to kill Usenet as most ISPs have quit furnishing it and not much thought goes into creating good newsreaders but there is a hard core who sticks with it, some go to the horrible Google web interface which I can’t stand as it is so much slower to navigate through than a good newsreader.
To answer the queries, yes, I do ride 27 miles in one day. I have an area around the neighborhood that I ride in, and I do laps. It usually takes me about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Now that the sun is rising later, I may not be able to do as many miles as I could when I was starting at 5:30 AM.

and thanks again, JJFahl —
I have IE9 only because it updated when I wasn’t looking — I never gave it permission to do that.
I believe I switched to Firefox when I hated IE7 or 8…..
What with a Google search box included by then, I never tried installing the actual toolbar, or I would have known it wasn’t available.
Maybe I’ll try Chrome again one of these days — depends on how it handles text size, which is often the dealbreaker for my poor old myopic eyes.

Ladyfingers - Sorry - but I was only being funny. Usually I just say “hi all”, which includes you, of course.
And thanks, but in IE, Ctrl+ and Ctrl- don’t do what I’m looking for.
I explained it here, a day or two ago, in my conversation with JJF, if you want to go back.
Basically, Ctrl+ makes everything too huge except the one thing I want bigger — this font in the comment box.
BTW Chrome, Firefox and IE are all (separate) browsers.
MSN is a web page.
Chrome may have picked it up as your home page setting in another browser — but you can change that to wherever you like.
Yikes! I’m supposed to be in bed!
Since I didn’t specifically say hi to you, I’ll say goodnight, Ladyfingers!

Marg SKATES 27 miles after she rides her bike. Don’t let her fool you, she is roller derby material.
