Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau for September 14, 2011
Transcript:
Man: Palin book any good? Roland: Yeah, but the mayor stuff is brutal! How do I reframe this? Listen... "'She didn't really give a s___ about her job,' says someone who knew her well. 'She'd say "I have to got a f____ meeting tonight," and she'd be like, "I got on my biggest push-up bra, I'm gonna get what I want."'" Man: Whoa. Good luck with that one, man. Roland: "Book: as mayor, Palin used every tool in kit."

Have to admit, he is pretty good with the spin.

SP’s lack of mental vitality makes her so uninteresting that Trudeau has to stir up pornographic interest in her as an aging bimbo. This is a flabby grandma with stretch marks, for pete’s sake. She probably confuses flatulence with inspiration, or little Trig with the Baby Jesus.

All this picking on Palin makes me think Trudeau secretly likes her. She has it all over Clinton and Obama that is truth. But the press hates her and they wouldn’t back a GOP candidate if the Country depended on it.

For all these years, the running joke was Hedley’s predilection for sensationalizing the trivial. (He and Twitter made the most perfect couple ever in this strip.) Now he’s doing the opposite.

palin;s phoney special needs hypesteria was as shallow as the comic warm up act comparing dems to them. She never uttered a word on protest.
gromitsperson about 13 years ago
I can’t stand Palin, but let’s not make jokes about Trig. He is the one least likely to be able to escape the publicity machine SP calls a family.

Looks like Joanie’s got a job.

I pray this bimbo never seeks public office again. She is unqualified to hold any position of authority. Hopefully her 15 minutes will be up soon.

Ok so Palin week will soon be over. Next up Romney or Perry week. I heard that Perry had a new hole ripped out during the last debate.

Palin is just the shallow cheerleader we all loved to hate in High School. She doesn’t help herself with some of the vacuous comments she keeps making. We love to watch her in front of the Friday night crowd but we’ll never elect her to be student body president.

People do like Sarah. Most aren’t quite comfortable with the idea of her in the oval office.

Sorry, because they secretly like HIM.

Might be the only “tool in her kit”.

Doughfoot, the right’s definition of a media bias is simple. If you’re not calling Obama a Kenyan, a Muslim or a communist you are biased.

I find it hard to believe that the comments made in the book, and, thus, this week’s strips were ever proven to be true. I have never heard Palin comment on this book or its specific contents. i would also caution readers that the Chicago Tribune, a liberal bastion featuring Muslims writing to indoctrinate people to their beliefs, has deemed this week’s series of strips unprintable because they do not meet the Trib’s Standard of Fairness.
TheSpanishInquisition about 13 years ago
@platinumboy7 — Enough of this? The Trib, a liberal bastion? I live in Chicago, and I can guarantee you there is nothing left about the Trib. It endorsed Bill Brady, a man who openly loathes gays and said all abortion whatsoever should be illegal, over Democrat Pat Quinn. And Republican Mark Kirk over Democrat Alexi Giannnoulias. It’s been Republican for years. Remember “Dewey beats Truman”?

Does Chuck Todd give Roland more gravitas?
Rayandkrisneu about 13 years ago
The Chicago Tribune won’t run Doonesbury all week because it does not meet their standards of fairness. I wish they would reconsider. It’s a hoot!

Newspapers “like” Palin because she’s good copy. Agree with her or disagree, she sells newspapers.
Political satirists such as Trudeau or other cartoonists/stand-up comics also have a love/hate relationship with their targets; they may never vote for the guy (or gal) they talk about most, but they’re sorry to see them leave the public arena because they’re such wonderful fodder for material.
Dtroutma about 13 years ago
What bothers me isn’t that folks pick at her like a boil, but that she’s actually a bubo on the Teapublican “body politic”, spreading, and representing a plague that poses a real threat to lives beyond her immediate community. She even uses a pushup bra to accentuate it, and “common folk” don’t look at the real problem.
Uncle Joe about 13 years ago
Platinumboy- I think the “Tribune” you are reading must be a special one printed just for you. Where is a link to a news article or editorial board column spreading Muslim indoctrination? The Inquisition pointed out that the Trib still endorses almost any GOP candidate for state or county office. John Kass is their ‘premier’ columnist and he openly loathes and despises Obama and liberals. They won’t even run this weeks Doonesbury because it violates their standards of fairness… since when are editorial cartoons supposed to be fair? For example, some people might think this is unfair:

or this one:

If the Trib looks like a left wing bastion to you, you aren’t just far right, you’re off the deep end..
