I couldn’t believe the change of attitude towards cars by teenagers. Today, the car is viewed as an appliance. For all the difference it makes, driving a refrigerator would be just as well. Cars used to be much more personal and perceived to be an extension of the person.
There is good and bad in both perspectives I suppose.
In 1968, I knew a guy who washed and waxed his very nice big Mercury sedan so often you could see the metal in arcing patterns on the hood where he had actually rubbed the paint off swiping sponges over it. Why didn’t he stop when he saw it starting?

“… paint left on mine” I’m married, and we have two cars. I go out of my way to not refer to mine and yours in regards to the two cars. They are ours.
