Some years ago, a man in our area built a shower stall – outside. Someone asked him what he was going to do in Winter. “Who ever heard of someone taking a bath in the winter?” Might add Kentucky until fairly recently had a law on the books requiring all citizens of Kentucky to take a bath once a year. (There is a web site devoted to obsolete laws still on the books)
Back then, “Saturday Night Fever” referred to the skin condition you’d get if you skipped your weekly bath, and “Saturday Night Live” described the little critters living on your scalp.÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷Sing along with Sherlock: “S, A, T-U-R, D-A-Y… NIGHT!”
