Transcript:
Miss Plainwell: I thought you were running with Burke. Frazz: He never showed. I guess it was too cold. Miss Plainwell: Where were you meeting? Frazz: Outside the running shop. Miss Plainwell: Which one. Mr. Burke: Thanks, Frazz. I need the push. Man: I'm not Frazz.

This happens to me sometimes. Last week, my friend wanted to go to a movie with me. He picked the theatre. But somehow, he still showed up at the wrong theatre. =\ Lol.

There are running SHOPS? I thought running was something you DID, not something you BOUGHT. That changes my whole perspective… “Welcome to the running shop, how may I help you?” “I’d like to purchase a 5K… say, by that skinny guy over there…”.BTW, re Burke: I read Frazz in the paper for the first several years, then lost track of the strip for a while before picking it up on the internet. Somewhere in that “lost time” Burke seems to have lost a lot of weight. Also, it seems that while “fat Burke” was mostly seen interacting with kids, “skinny Burke” primarily interacts with Frazz and Jane, usually in the context of running. Did he retire from teaching to devote himself to athletics or something?

@puddleglum- There are such things as running shops. And yes, you can sign up for the occasional race there. They sell anything related to running, especially shoes. It’s more like a glorified hpyer-specialized shoe store. lol

@puddleglum — Burke was worried about his health and Frazz took him under his wing and started him running and eating healthier. I don’t think he retired, because a few strips ago he was talking to the principal, but you are right, we don’t see him in the classroom as much.

I remember seeing Burke mostly attempting to play basketball with Frazz. I say attempting because somewhere in the strip Caufield or Jane point out that it had been three months since anyone had made a shot. But that just may have been a lot of dribble.

Used to commute by bicycle, forced myself to ride to work in minus 10 degree weather. Spent the next three days in bed.

Frazz is on a stationary bicycle! I thought that he thought they were crimes against nature.
