Actually, that’s pretty accurate and not a bad pun. I think many Christians (and I am one) take God’s name in vain – calling themselves God’s people (or person) – and then not thinking, talking or acting like it.
well, there’s a means to the end. Once you come out of there, you have to admit, you really REALLY do love Big Brother. No fooling around this time, if Big Brother can threaten to have your face attacked by hungry rats, how could you not love him?
“godless evolutionism which makes LESS sense than if SOME god (not debating which one here, this is NOT a flame war) had created everything…. and then gave us a bible….. and it explained everything…. yeah…”
“yeah” indeed, but since there are OTHER books which tell OTHER explanations, if you seriously accept your own qualification then you’d have to admit we have no basis for distinguishing which one is true. Maybe there’s only one god but he has trouble keeping his story straight…
(Sorry, without an ‘edit’ button, I end up having to delete and repost. GoComics needs an edit button.)
God has been slandered, misrepresented, ignored, insulted, attacked in every way possible, blamed for every wrong and then had his very existence denied (only to be brought up again to be blamed), underappreciated, uncredited, misunderstood and driven to the brink. When the time comes to clear his name and right the wrongs, those who have wronged him haven’t got a prayer.
(Obviously, this is something only God himself has the power and intelligence to successfully do.)
fritzoid, your post echos a resounding hopelessness. My heart goes out to you – but I don’t think you want any help from me. (ever wonder if God thinks the same thing?)
Practically every person in history would claim they would believe if they could just hear the big, booming voice of God. If that were necessary, when would the booming stop? And how many people would need to hear it again and again and again?
Actually, there were times in history when God’s voice was heard and for most it didn’t make any difference.
An incident showing that God would rather appeal to us, than scare us out of our skins was recorded at 1 Kings 19:11-13. God showed a little of his power with a strong wind that could rip mountains, followed by a quaking and a fire. After all that, God spoke to Elijah in a calm, low voice – a voice that kindly respected Elijah’s feelings.
Further, consider the fact that God’s son conveyed everything that God sent him to say – and yet most people did not listen. And last, what’s the alternative? Humans don’t have the answers. No wonder you feel hopeless. Take a thought from John 6:68. (betcha won’t look it up.)
By the way, you might have included a disclaimer with your scripture citations, that there is no Mark 19:82, nor Luke 19:67

Now God can take a lesson from Charles Barkley and claim he was misquoted in his own book….

(They were inspired Holy Ghostwriters, however, and not making things up on their own. ; – )

When you think about it, all books are inspired (by someone).

Nice to know that you speak for him.
