Goofus and Gallant are still around? They’re getting OLD!

Been awhile since I last saw a Highlights magazine. I’ll have to check our listings and see if that is one we carry.

Highlights was the go-to mag at my dentist as a kid.

I think it was the go-to mag at all children’s dentists and doctors offices

My 6 yo gets Highlights now – love it still! They do a great job!

I did that once, I had to stay after school, so told the teach that I had a dental appointment, and the teacher called my mom!!! Mom said no. and I had to stay after school all week for lying to the teacher, and grounded at home all weekend for lying to the teacher. Double Jeopardy!

To fear-ciuil re: the new pain scale you mentioned on Saturday. That was hilarious – I laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe. ♥Thank you so much for posting that.♥

My childhood was deprived. I’ve never seen a “Highlights”.

I read Highlights as a child, but don’t recall coming across Goofus or Gallant.

Goofus and Gallant – and the Timbertoes – were about all I read of Highlights in the 50’s and 60’s. And here I am, still reading the funnies.

Goofus was so pathetic in his attempts at evil you just had to laugh at his escapades. “Goofus took the last apple.” Well, that’s just Hitlerian in its implications.

The only thing I liked about Highlights was the hidden picture page. That’s the way I view things to this day….

I bought Playboy for the cartoons.

Some of the articles were pretty good, too.

Surely if a kid had an appointment in the middle of the day, he would have to bring a note explaining it? And given that it was Caulfield, I can’t believe that she didn’t query it.
