Kayla used to be as silly as the other girls – and Parker. Now, she looks and acts like an adult. Her silence in P#2 says a lot. This comic continues to surprise.

How about this for plot? Darby, put off by the snobbish attitude of the Milford High kids, organizes a softball team at the alternative school. The Milford kids think it’s a big joke and challenge them to a game, like Eddie Albert in The Longest Yard. And the alternative kids shock them by clobbering them, led by Darby’s pitching. Darby decides to win even though she knows it means a longer sentence.

Jaxson is the cutest comic kid since Dondi!

Jaxon is not cute. That hand is full of germs and threatens to get the whole softball team sick.

Can’t wait for Li’ Joni Mitchell to take some BP against Darby. Better wear a flak jacket Al Jolson.

Al Jolson? Makes me think of one thing, Curly from The Three Stooges reciting “Mammy”!

9th grade. So he was 14. Jaxon is her son. Her brother! Her son! Her brother!

I’m not giving up on the tattoo storyline. The girls will all be getting “M’s” on their shoulders, but now they’ll stand for Mommy.

then again, I could be wrong, what if jaxson is the result of abuse?

Maybe Jaxon is the drug-dealing assasin, and they’re in the witness protection program.

…sorry to use up my allotment for the week in one day, but I notice that the kid in P3 has the Milford giant hand syndrome that we have seen so often. Must be the nuclear research done during the late 1940’s in Milford before Oak Ridge got the contract.

The thing I don’t really understand is how the young pitcher is able to play on this team if she seems to go to another High School.

Is the woman with black hair in Panel 2 the same one in Panel 3? Whigham seems to draw the same people over and over again, and one can’t tell who’s who.

Great segue from panel two to panel three. I like this storyline, although I don’t understand the reason for keeping Jaxson a secret from the coach and the other members of the team. Being a parent doesn’t disqualify a student from participating in high school sports.

If Darby “the Assassin” knocked off somebody at the local hangout, could we say she “kicked the bucket”?
