I am sure that is supposed to be a turban the fortune teller is wearing but to me it looks more like a big bandage, perhaps made necessary by the previous client who did not like what the crystal ball foretold of the future for them.
It’s on his right wrist because he’s a lefty. It makes sense for lefties to wear watches/sundials on their right wrists because it reduces interference. That’s why we righties wear them on our left wrists. Of course back in the wind up days, it would have been difficult for a lefty to wind a watch on his/her right wrist. Just another way of discriminating against the “sinister” types.
