Andy: We're going to a Caribbean Resort 1,000 miles form the ocean! Roger: Well, the real ocean, sure. But what they've done is reproduced the island experience using state-of-the-art water-park technology. You can't tell the difference! Plus, this ocean has chlorine! Andy: The Thump you're about to hear is my jaw hitting the floor. Roger: Mine did the same thing when I first read this.

Lots of “chloride”. Not so much “chlorine”.

If it was chloride, it wouldn’t smell like a swimming pool.

Actually, people do have salt water swimming pools and I’ve heard claims that they’re easier to maintain though I doubt it since I know a couple of people who have tried to do salt water aquariums and those are a real pain.
As for calling it in advance, I’ll go with tomorrow being Paige shopping for clothes for the trip.

The thump I expected him to hear was her fist on his head, and his head on the floor.

Roger Fox can be a REAL dummy sometimes. I would much rather go to the REAL ocean and not some mockup.

As clueless as Roger is here, I have to admit I probably would prefer “Islands of Fun-Fun Caribbeanny Resort” to St. Martin or Anguilla (much to my wife’s chagrin). I can have fun for a day or two at a water park, but a beach? Not so much.

Not quite.Na Cl in solution disassociates int Na+ and Cl-.Cl- in water forms HOCl and ClO-.ClO- is a very strong oxidizer and disinfectant. Most people are familiar with ClO- as laundry bleach, in the form of a 5% solution of Calcium Hypochlorite (Ca(ClO)2).
Salt water pools with 2000 ppm of NaCl (too little to taste) use electrolysis to produce higher concentrations of ClO- in the water.

Maybe is should be a science class! I haven’t seen one “learned” comment here which would be forgivable in a first year Chemistry class!

Artificial Caribbean. I wonder if there are any pirates in it.

Actually, I would want to go to that resort, if that were all I knew about it…
