Remember: “Old age and treachery beat youth and enthusiasm every time.”

As for electric outlets … almost every old house has them in that exact spot.

The only change I know of is that for ADA compliance and flood safety, they’re supposed to be I think 13" off the floor in new construction…but most people don’t live in new houses.Contrary to some foreign beliefs, the US has no house inspection patrol knocking on your door to make you move your electric outlets, nor do you have to do it to sell an older house.

The guy that inspected my place was a retired insurance salesman. He seemed to know his stuff, but what do I know? I don’t know what it takes to qualify to be an inspector in Michigan….

Wow, did the comments today go off on a tangent! We got a comic breaking the 4 wall and a pink cat ambushing it’s tail and all you guys can come up with is the ground wire is in the correct position? Must be a slow day in the news.

That’s how I’ve always seen plugs installed in Connecticut.

Hey, at least it’s on the wall, my aunt’s 100 year old house has ’em in the floor. Convient for standing lamps, but nothing else. The worst is trying to vacume….. .And o/c the ground goes down, do you usually walk in the sky? no, you walk on the ground.

New rules say the ground goes on top. I think its in case something metallic falls onto the prongs, it will hit the ground and do no damage. I’m no expert, that’s what the maintenance guy told me. Makes sense.
