My mother once got angry and tore up my comic books. I’m nearly sixty-five (she’s eighty-three) and I am still “upset” over this.

After she gave me a ration of crap for collecting comics in my 30s, I took my mom to the comic book store. Showed her the comic where Clark Kent was bowling against Superman on the cover, which was, back then being sold for over $100. I told her “We had that comic book when we were kids. You threw it away.” She never gave me a hard time for buying comics again.

Besides, if every kid kept every comic in perfect condition, the comics wouldn’t be rare and wouldn’t be worth much more than the original cover price.
