…what I really like about this particular strip is that Kevin says “more kids like you” and Miles asks “you mean other black kids” and Kevin says, totally unselfconsciously “Yeah”…the same conversation among a lot of adults could turn ugly. Kids can innocently ask and answer real questions without any real prejudice…

This is the first strip to address the issue of race in general, albeit not to the extent of Tauhid’s previous comic A Problem Like Jamal. I hope future Crabgrass comics continue to lightly touch upon this subject and other related social issues while still retaining that nostalgic childhood charm.

When I first started reading this comic I thought Kevin WAS a girl for like five strips.

Hold up… In the second strip miles says that he had no friends in his old neighbourhood!
