Maybe the helmet subtracts intelligence from others and adds it to the wearer? Like a “smart pump” it doesn’t create smarts, just moves it around.

I’m afraid Carla will become one of those extremely annoying people who go around correcting other people’s grammar.

Let’s me guess why it’s one word: a necessitated hyphen (“dodge” with a succeeding hyphen on the first line and “ball” on the second line.)
