I think the dad is going to be revealed to be a wimp. To help out the kids, I saw Godzilla 1985 when I was cried at the end (although Godzilla was the villain).
I agree. Dad isn’t going the boys any favors by sheltering them from real life. If the movie ends up being more than they can handle, then they lived through that lesson. Nice, Tauhid! (I particularly liked the presentation. That alone should have warranted an okay from the parents. But what about the other set of parents. What is their viewpoint?)
I let my daughter watch an unsavory movie with friends for 2 reasons. 1: she asked instead of sneaking, and I honored her asking first 2: I wanted her to see why I thought it wasn’t a movie worth her time. To restrict it, at the time, might have made it seem even more mysterious and appealilng.

Having them watch an actual scary movie to see if they can handle it? That’s actually a good idea, Gene.

Brilliant tactic. And it works. Says me when I was 12 and mom let me stay up late to watch the 11PM Saturday night horror shows.

The kids will make it all the way through Chainsaw Cabin. They’ll have their hands over their eyes for most of the movie.
