My F-I-L’s neighbor was a doctor and had a nice sailboat. One day he called us over to see the stainless steel rail he had added to the prow, I assume that an anchor chain was going to run throw it. He was very proud of it and kept saying how much it cost to have welded together. I didn’t have the heart to point out all the slag and rough welds. I hope it never had any real stress put on it.
