Buys desk. Gets it home. Discovers secret compartment containing an ultra-rare 1933 gold double-eagle. Actions it off for $8.5 million. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Surprised he even knew what it is, This ma’am, it’s just an old wood desk somebody didn’t want.

And you can find furniture like that at thrift shops and estate sales for fifty bucks.

I didn’t know you could take your old furniture and just leave it at a furniture store.

She was shopping for a chair.

We have two. Inherited, of course.

Do new furniture stores actually take in used furniture as trade-ins?

It used to belong to Microsoft. It’s a roller-Gates.

Nobody wants one? I’ve seen them priced in the thousands at high-end furniture stores.

Vintage or antique style is more of my taste, as well. It has personality and a history.

In the past, Lillian’s writing instrument of choice has been shown in the strip to be a laptop. Is Lillian going to write on her laptop on the rolltop desk? For what purpose? Aesthetics?

Better keep that laptop fully charged and fire up the Wi-Fi because there is nowhere for the power cord and ethernet cable to go. Why buy an attractive rolltop desk only to have unsightly cables draped all over it?

This salesman is sure glad he met Loathsome Lil. She’s easily distracted by shiny objects. Sell her that rolltop at a hefty markup. As others have pointed out, Lillian still needs a chair unless she’s going to stand at the desk. What else can he interest her in?

Salesman: Can I interest you in an antique brass writing lamp? It’s just like the one Agatha Christie used to use.

I Love Roll Top desks.

I had a more Modern one, years ago, for my Computer Desk.

Sadly, I had to leave it behind when I sold that house. It would not fit into the moving van with all my Other junk.

Wish I still had mine…
