Make sure your shoes are tied snug, Alice, and just slime on over there. You can hose off when you get home. Humans are eminently washable, as are most clothes…

I remember as a kid trying to get across a big muddy field. By the time I made it across I didn’t have shoes anymore. Boy was my mother mad.

Dill’s brothers probably have some Ice-9 in a thermos. Drop a grain, the moisture in the mud will crystalize, and Alice can walk across no problem…

No snow, no winter coats, mud not frozen. Take off shoes and socks, tie laces and hang around neck, roll up pants and walk out.
