Car: Beep! Kevin: Ew! Now his other shoe fell off! Beni: His shoes are rolling all over the van! Alice: Stop! We must evacuate! Miss Bliss: Please remain calm!

Miss Bliss is likely just about to explode. Starting with that notorious trouble-maker, Marcus, the kids are acting up. The road is rocky (hence, the wandering shoes of Dill). And, the final straw: beep!

When my younger daughter was about five, I took her on her first plane ride. She was convinced that when the plane took off, her shoes might fall off and slide to the back of the plane.

I remember a crowded, long and hilly bus ride with someone’s vomit swishing back and forth the length of the bus. Not sure how the driver managed with all the shrieking and yelling behind him.
